HUMAN RIGHTS AND DISABILITY
Note by the Secretary-General prepared pursuant to Subcommission resolution 1994/10
1. The Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, in paragraph 1 of its resolution 1994/10 of 19 August 1994, requested the Secretary-General to report to it in 1995 regarding coordination endeavours which affect disabled persons, with emphasis on activities of the other United Nations organizations and bodies that deal with alleged violations of the legal obligations of States under the International Bill of Human Rights and United Nations treaties that protect disabled persons.
2. Pursuant to that resolution, the Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, by a communication dated 9 February 1995, requested relevant United Nations organizations and bodies to submit their contributions to the Centre for Human Rights by 1 May 1995.
3. No replies have so far been received to those requests.
4. Should any replies be received, they will be issued in an addendum to the present note.
