This combined degree scheme has a human rights "pillar" consisting of one core human rights course per year. In the first year, Foundations of Human Rights introduces students to the basic terms and concepts needed to study human rights, the international and regional systems for the promotion and protection of human rights, the ways human rights are studied across different disciplines, as well as the key debates on human rights. In the second year, Issues and Methods in Human Rights gives students the opportunity to probe deeper into specific issues of human rights, as well as learn the techniques for systematic research in the field of human rights. In the third year, the Human Rights Colloquium uses a series of student-directed analyses of specific human rights topics. Students may also select from several undergraduate courses in human rights offered by other departments. The possibility of area specialization is offered. | |
