Content | This international conference on self-empowerment for peace activists focuses on the rights of peace activists and non-violent action. According to the Conference, non-violent social empowerment is about people's discovering and exercising their own power - against oppression and exclusion, for participation, peace, and human rights. The conference aims to test assumptions about non-violent social empowerment and produce materials to reflect and deepen the discussion. The conference begins by looking at ways by which people transform their experience into a source of motivation by exercising personal power and then moves on to non-violent means of organization, by examining issues about the social base of a movement and how movements use the power they have. | |
